Say Goodbye to CE Labels - Say Hello to Production labels!

Example of new Production label. This can be affixed to the item at the point of delivery to add more professionalism.

For those that used CE marking from JMS the following may be interesting. For the rest of you I would jump to part 2.

Why has JMS stopped CE marking?

It is with regret that JMS is now unable to provide CE labels from within the program. This is due to a number of reasons from the result of BREXIT to BSI (UK notified Body) taking a different view of JMS.

BREXIT meant that Joinerysoft was going to have to change the logo and potentially the notified body based on where “Your” joinery was being delivered. England, Scotland and Wales were different to Northern Ireland which was different again to Ireland and the rest of Europe. We had worked out a way to develop this into JMS but it is still a body of work.

BSI originally analysed JMS methods / formula for calculating the thermal transmittance and found them to be perfectly inline with the regulations of BS EN ISO 10077-1 which meant JMS could calculate the u-value based on whatever sizes or material the joinery manufacturer put into JMS.

Unfortunately recently BSI are interpreting the rules of validation differently and as such wanted to change the way they validated JMS. BSI's change was to insist that we put every permutation of joinery that we wanted to validate, into a scope. As Joinerysoft has hundreds of customers based in the UK this is impossible as we don’t even know all the different permutations customers are doing to their joinery. After many meetings online and physically it was decided by the directors of Joinerysoft to remove the ability to CE mark.

Interestingly we didn’t think many of you were still CE marking, as there has been some confusion since Brexit. Since switching CE marking off in December 2022 we have only received about 15 calls and those customers have all understood that it was not the making of Joinerysoft.

Part 2 - The good news.

U-values are still valid within JMS. So it is still possible to produce your full window / door u-values. This can be shown on a quote or on a u-value certificate. So that those label printers are not wasted gathering dust! JMS now offers the ability to “Production labels” as seen in the example.
